Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is recruiting to fill the positions of Project Driver, Field Coordinator, Finance & Administrative Officer, Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator, Program Officer, Senior Literacy Coordinator, Finance Assistant, Program Assistant, and Senior Program Officer Jobs.

 

AHNi is an indigenous non-governmental organization that promotes Socio-economic development by supporting a broad range of global health interventions, education, and economic initiatives in Nigeria. AHNi is an allied organization to Family Health International (FH1360) with a co-existing and mutually supportive interest in advancing the collective goals of the people and communities served. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

 

The Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA) is DFID-funded through UNICEF on early primary grades reading pilot project implemented in partnership with FHI 360 in collaboration with the Niger, Kebbi & Katsina State governments. RANA aims to improve literacy and numeracy for girls and boys in primary grades 1-3 in the supported states. It will assist approximately 100 formal Schools and Integrated Qur’anic Schools (IQS) in each of the states.

1. Senior Program Officer – Borno

 

Project: Global Funded
Contract Type: Fixed Term

 

Job Description

As a member of the Program Management Team, supports the Zonal Team Lead in providing oversight, coordination, monitoring and reporting of all project activities in the assigned States, develop and oversee the execution of systems for the initiation, implementation, monitoring, amendment and closeout of all AHNI GF lAs’ sub-agreements, ensure that AHNI/GF delivers on all its promises to donors and other stakeholders (achieve set targets, deliver quality services)

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

BS / BA in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, or its recognized equivalent with 7 – 9 years of relevant experience, with international development programs.

Or MS / MA degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioural Sciences, or its recognized equivalent with 5 – 7 years of relevant experience with international development programs. Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is required.

2. Program Assistant – Abuja

Job Descriptions

Under the Supervision of the Program Officer will provide assistance in the coordination of activities of the AHNI/Nigeria field offices.

H/She will support program planning, design, review, and monitoring of the program implementation and field offices.

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Bachelor’s degree or HND in the Numerical Sciences or Development Science.

1-2 years’ work experience in monitoring and evaluation of education programs.

3. Finance Assistant – Abuja

Under the direction of the Finance and Administrative Officer, He / She shall assume responsibility for providing support to all HQ & state-level administrative and accounting responsibilities.

And, will ensure compliance with the contractual financial and administrative requirements of the organization.

University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Experience with administrative and secretarial skills

Sound accounting skills

Experience with large complex organizations is required, familiarity with international NGOs preferred.

4. Senior Literacy Coordinator – Abuja

 

Project: RANA
Contract Type: Fixed Term

 

Job Descriptions

Under the supervision of the Technical Advisor, the Senior Literacy Coordinator will coordinate the Hausa Language reading materials content development for the continuous professional development of early primary grade teachers with integrated numeracy and gender contents.

H/She will be responsible for the educational program planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the reading interventions implemented by AHNi and its partners in the assigned States.

The Literacy Coordinator will also be responsible for the technical leadership of early grade reading program and/or IQS activities in the assigned states, providing expertise in instruction, assessment, research, coaching, training, and materials development.

Working closely with the RANA Technical Advisor and other technical staff, H/She will ensure effective planning, delivery, and documentation of program interventions.

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Advanced degree in Education with a concentration in early grade reading, literacy language acquisition, and non-formal education or related field.

At least 5 to 7 years experience in education reform with a focus on primary education sector work in language acquisition and/or child literacy or reading especially in the Hausa Language. Certification as a reading/literacy specialist preferred.

Demonstrated ability to work with government, partners, and/or local government structures and school settings.

Proven expertise in mother tongue (L1), early grade reading instruction and/or assessment, and reading material development, preferably in the Hausa Language.

Significant experience in developing and producing of supplementary reading materials, workbooks, trainers’ and teachers’ guides and instructional materials to improve early grades reading.

Has the ability to coordinate reading interventions, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities

Strong leadership qualities and facilitation skills, experience in working with teachers to improve practice

Experience in project reporting

Demonstrable knowledge of research-based best practices in content-area reading skills and strategies and literacy instruction

Experience/preparation in modeling teaching, observing teachers and providing feedback.

Job Descriptions

Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator will coordinate the monitoring and evaluation of the Project at State level, H/She will monitor the flow of data collection and ensure accuracy of data for donor reporting and presentation.

H/She will also maintain regular communication with state-level partners to offer data-requirement support for sustainability.

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Bachelor’s degree or HND in the Numerical Sciences or Development Science with at least 3-years work experience in monitoring and evaluation of education programs.

Under the direction of the Field Coordinator, the Finance and Administrative Officer shall assume responsibility for all state-level administrative and accounting responsibilities.

And, will ensure compliance with the contractual financial and administrative requirements of the organization.

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

BS / BA degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 3-5 years relevant experience.

Or MS / MA degree in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 1-3 years relevant experience.

Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in accounting related to international development programs.

Familiarity with donor-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria is an advantage. CPA, ACA, ICAN or recognized equivalent is an advantage. Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is an advantage.

8. Field Coordinator – Niger, Kebbi & Kastina

Job Descriptions

The Field Coordinator is responsible for the state educational program planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the reading interventions implemented by AHNi and its partners in the assigned States.

H/She is also responsible for overseeing strategic and day-to-day implementation of activities in the State. The FC will provide supervision and guidance to the state team and support services personnel.

H/She will work closely with the Technical Advisor to ensure implementation is closely aligned with the overall project objectives.

H/She is accountable for judicious use of all resources entrusted with AHNi and its partners in the assigned State

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Advanced degree in Education or its recognized equivalent with 6 – 9 years of relevant experience with international development programs.

Demonstrated success in multicultural environments Is required.

At least 5-8 years’ experience in education reform with a focus on primary education sector work in teacher education.

Demonstrated ability to work with government, partners, and/or local government structures and schools’ settings.

Proven expertise in mother tongue (L1), early grade reading instruction and/or assessment, and reading material development, preferably in the Hausa Language.

Significant experience in teacher training and support for development, production, and distribution of instructional materials, including but not limited to: effective teacher training modules, assessment, and/or supplementary materials.

Has the ability to coordinate teacher training interventions, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.

Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.

9. Project Driver – Abuja, Kebbi & Kastina

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Finance and Administrative Officer and supported by Field Coordinator, the driver shall provide a variety of transportation support to the RANA Project.

 

Minimum Recruitment Standards

Secondary school leaving certificates, apprentice certificate, or any other equivalent certificates with a minimum of 1-year experience.

Must have a trade test certificate and a valid driving license. Must have expert knowledge of driving rules and regulations.

Experience as a driver mechanic will be an added advantage. Experience with large complex organizations preferred.
