Requirements for Kemri Research Scientist Job


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline within Health or Social Sciences (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology)
  • Training in data management software (e.g. Nvivo software, Atlas TI, MAXQDA)
  • Good communication skills.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Quality control of transcripts
  • Coding and analysis of data
  • Report writing
  • Securing, storage, and management of the data, in accordance with the data protection policy of KEMRI


Terms of Engagement:

Employment is SIX (6) months contract as per KEMRI Human Resource policy and Procedures Manual with a probation period of one (1) month.

Program Description:

The Tupumue study is a Multi-disciplinary partnership set to determine and compare the respiratory health status of children living in two contrasting communities in Nairobi. The study investigates early life origins and potential drivers of chronic lung disease (CLD) including indoor and outdoor air pollution, low birth weight and respiratory infections in early life.


This post will involve working with the project team to undertake qualitative research analysis on data collected through different methods including drawings, walking interviews, focus groups and video recordings. The Research Scientist will be expected to code, undertake analysis of data and write reports
