Responsibility:

Management of equipment installation and maintenance (with a local distributor, if appropriate)

 

  • Assistance in identifying a maintenance point person at each installation site
  • Communicate regularly with distributor and installation sites to ensure implementation
  • Lead all engineering maintenance and coordination initiatives, with the support of the Nest Biomed Tech Training Director, including:
    Coordination of installation and user training for NEST devices in program supported sites
    Monitoring installed equipment and condition including maintenance and repair history and analysis
    Development and monitoring of preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment management and requirement and supply and equipment inventory systems
    Coordinate and conduct user and technician training and installations at all sites
    Coordinate repair and maintenance of all installed equipment as necessary
  • Develop a recommendation plan for preventive maintenance at team, user and installation site responsibility levels
  • Periodic field visits to ensure monitoring of equipment quality and progress
  • There is a need for brainstorming within the nursery and training institute establishment sites, including but not limited to: equipment design, nursery infrastructure and layout and renewable energy
  • Participate in manufacturer-led trainings in service and repair when necessary; May require travel

 

Ministry of Health Engagement and Facilitation

Assistance in development of job support, video and training courses for MOH technical and clinical staff

Assisting in the development and implementation of an assistant assistant supervision program and coordinating program activities

Develop strategies to increase maintenance of equipment repair staff

 

Communication and reporting

Provide immediate feedback of project leadership after installation, user training or maintenance visits with relevant information (eg number of users and technicians trained, maintenance, design and repair issues)

Provide assistance in compiling and reviewing high-quality reports for donors and program management in a timely fashion

Consistency in grant/program changes and progress to advise and advise on tools and strategies to enhance program performance and results

Review and analyze field reports to identify the causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation and use the data for decision making and action

Serve as a liaison between the NEST program and the Ministry of Health (particularly within equipment maintenance and / or procurement units), engineering accreditation bodies, and training institutions for communication of program plans, activities, data, and progress.

Ensure that donor, partner and senior management engineering and maintenance questions are addressed accurately and in a timely manner

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher national diploma in biomedical engineering or another related discipline.

 

Strong skills in engineering, instrumentation, and reporting software (eg, Labview, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Matlab, Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) are required for this role.

 

Experience working with hospital equipment, government ministry department and agency or private sector biomedical unit focused on installation and maintenance of hospital equipment

 

A minimum of 3 years of experience in implementing engineering, including experience with multi-site programs and hospital-related maintenance, particularly in relation to neonatal equipment.

 

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, including the ability to effectively coordinate with various individuals and stakeholders to achieve results

 

Familiar with qualitative and quantitative data collection and design software (eg, SPSS, STATA or similar, Power BI, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, etc.)

 

Ability to travel indigenously and out of the country
